DAGONG

Dagong stands on a bend on historic Dasan-ro (a 2.9km long street running from Cheonggye 7-ga crossroads to Yaksugogae in Hannam-dong). The 11-story structure presents a smart exterior. Unlike monotonous lease buildings, its façade features a staggered arrangement of windows linking two stories each. These windows also offer occupants a variety of views of the city from the building's interior. Voids and openings (loggia) at various points in the structure allow the building to maintain its height despite a limit on total floor area. At the same time, these features serve to actively bring outdoor space into the building. This both serves as a catalyst for various activities by occupants inside the building and provides rare open views of the city, as well as encounters with natural phenomena like rain and snow. Meanwhile, the contrast between the interior mortar finish and exterior aluminum panelling, the use of various materials and diverse patterns for the floors and walls, and the undulating exterior serve to go beyond the ordinary building designs found all over the city, creating new scenery and a new place.

다공(근린생활시설)은 오랜 역사의 다산로(청계7가 사거리부터 한남동 약수고개까지에 이르는 2.9km의 도로) 상에 변곡점에 위치하여 말쑥한 외관으로 자기의 존재를 드러내는 건축물이다. 천편일률적인 임대건물과는 다르게, 2개층을 연결하는 창문은 서로 어긋나도록 디자인되어, 외부에서 뿐만아니라 내부에서도 다양한 도시의 창을 갖게 되었다. 이들 개구부중 중간중간 보이드를 두어 건물의 높이를 극복하는데 사용함과 동시에 외부공간을 내부로 적극적으로 끌어들이며, 실내의 사용자들이 다양한 행위들을 할수 있는 촉매로서 사용하고 있다. 더불어 실내의 여러가지 기본바탕의 재료와 외관의 변화있는 모습은 도시속에서 흔히 마주할수 있는 임대건물에서 벗어나 새로운 풍경과 장소를 제공할수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.
