Re:Circle(還元)

Re:Circle is comprised of seen cut pieces of a concrete pipe, which is one of the materials that are often used in the construction of urban infrastructure, laid out on the lawn of the First Plaza of the Yongsan Family Park. By this work the place is spontaneously reduced into our daily life. As visitors go through cut pipes, they function as the subject that links them together. As they sit on the wooden decks inside the cut pipes and look up at the sky through the holes in the ceiling, visitors tangibly sense the communication between the inside and the outside. In these fragmented spaces visitors can experience in person the meaning of connection through various activities such as looking in, looking out, passing through, and sitting on.
[환원]은 도시인프라 재료 가운데 주로 무언가를 연결하는 데 사용되는 콘크리트 수송관을 7개로 분절시킨 후 용산가족공원 제1광장의 잔디밭에 펼쳐 놓은 작업이다. 작품은 새로운 장소를 우리의 일상 속으로 자연스럽게 환원시킨다. 관람객들은 각각의 수송관을 통과하며 분절된 작품의 형태를 연결하는 주체가 되고, 때로는 수송관 내부의 나무 데크에 앉아 천장의 구멍을 통해 하늘을 바라보며 안과 밖의 소통을 체험한다. 파편화된 공간들속에서 관람객들은 들여다보기, 내다보기, 지나가기, 앉기 등 다양한 행위를 통해 연결의 의미를 직접 경험해 볼 수 있다.
